I'm going to see Pestilence and Master!!!!!

Mon Apr 27, 2009, 4:59 PM
  • Mood: Overwhelmed
  • Listening to: Master "Master"
  • Playing: Bass(fingers):Devastation: Souls of Sacrifice
I'm seeing Pestilence at the Maryland Deathfest and then Master at The Knitting Factory in Hollywood,California on July 23. FUCK YEAH!!! :) :) :) :)

Devastation "Souls of Sacrifice" (1991)

Souls of black
Lives of hatred and scorn
Fire of darkness
Dwelling deep in the mind
Blasphemous lies
Like blood on a double-edge sword
Denying the cross
Mocking the one they call Lord

Evil lives everywhere
Come with me meet hate and despair
Will I live of will I die
Weak must perish, the strong will survive

Seeking death
Torment through suicide
At one with Satan
The evil one lives inside
Sacrilege
So foolish is your way
In fire and brimstone
Now you eternally rot away

You worship Satan
Prepare to die
Eternally black
Souls of sacrifice

You worship Satan prepare to die
Eternally black souls of Sacrifice
Walk through the gates into flames of hell
And you see that God prevails

Souls of black
Lives of hatred and scorn
Fires of darkness
Dwelling deep in the mind
Blasphemous lies
Like blood on a double-edge sword
Denying the cross
Mocking the one they call Lord

Evil lives everywhere
Come with me hate and despair
Will I live or will I die
Weak must perish, the strong will survive

I REALLY fucking love bullets. Especially bullet belts. I guess it started with my grandpa's collection of German WWII ammo belts and what not when I was young. Later in my life, I saw their connection with the kind of music I'm into.

Go crazy at shows. Stage dive (if you can), bang your head till your brains are splattered all over the floor, get into the pit, and show some fucking horns! Remember, unless you're taking photographs, you shouldn't just be standing around and watching. You paid good and hard earned cash for that ticket, so quit being a little cry baby and have some fun. :)

"Fear
From side to side
Pain
crossing in pur minds
Evil
Was born in the human brain
A dream?
No way"
- taken from "Agony" by KORZUS

"I am Immortal got no right to die
I am Immortal no one can deny
I am Immortal 'til the end of time
I am Immortal"- taken from "I Am Immortal" by Mortal Sin

"The elder among the men looked deep into
The fire and spoke loud with pride
Tomorrow is a fine day to die"- taken from "A Fine Day to Die" by Bathory

If you like Metal but don't like Bathory, there is something wong with you!

...From this list, I obviously should have been born in 1970 or 1969. ;)

I've been a fan of Metal since I was 11 years old. It has even saved my life on a certain occasion. I also play bass guitar (fretless is currently in the works). I play with my fingers but I'll occasionally use a pick (for extremely fast riffs only). I'm mostly self taught but I have taken a music theory class (got a 95% in that class). If I've learned one thing, that one thing is that you can't learn every music note in this entire universe by ear. I'm also a vocalist. I'm able to do a high pitched Jeff Becerra (Possessed) like scream, a Patrick Mameli (Pestilence) like growl, a high pitched falsetto scream, a Steve Reynolds (Demolition Hammer)style vocal, a Rob Urbinati (Sacrifice) style vocal, a Pat Lind (Morbid Saint) style vocal, a Mille Petrozza (Kreator) style vocal, or a Russ Anderson (Forbidden) style octave. These vocal styles are not easy at all. They take a lot of practice, dedication, and perseverance to obtain (if you want them to sound good that is). In all, I'm working on developing my own vocal style. That's why I've decided to take up learning and doing quite a broad range of vocal styles. It will pay off in the end for sure. I've been doing vocals since my freshman year of high school.

Not that this would be a shock to anyone but I just have to say that I'm gay. Where I come from, I'm well respected by the older generation metallers. None of them seem to care about the fact that I'm gay. Which, that's a good thing on my part. I'm far from your typical pretty boy/limp wristed type of gay. I'm not afraid of my sexual orientation and I'm not afraid to admit I love men. Hell, I said it to an entire audience on my old band's last show at my old high school's "Battle of the Bands" and we came in 1st place. The response was actually very positive and that shows something. I'm not a cry baby. I accept the cards I'm given in life and I use them well. That's life for ya and you better get used to it. Also, words like "fag" and "queer" don't offend me at all. To me, they're just words. Besides, "fag" in British means "small cigarette". Remember, Rob Halford of Judas Priest is gay. Well, I'm glad I got that shit out of the way.

My main influences as a bassist

Steve DiGorgio (Sadus, ex-Death, ex-Autopsy ("Severed Survival" (1989 debut))
Marcel "Schmimer" Schirmer (Destruction)
Jeff Becerra (Possessed) DEATH METAAAAAAAAL!!!
Paul Speckmann (Master, Death Strike, War Cry, etc)
Tom Angelripper (Sodom, Onkel Tom Angelripper)
Steve Reynolds (Demolition Hammer)
Gerald "Incubus" Minelli (Sarcófago)
Martin Van Drunen (ex-Pestilence, Asphyx, Hail of Bullets): He's also a lefty on bass guitar. Seriously, to play left handed and play with your fingers at the same time takes talent. For those of you that don't know, Martin played bass during live duties. Patrick Mameli did the bass during the recording process of the first two records.
Steve Harris (Iron Maiden)
Terence "Geezer" Butler (Black Sabbath, Heaven and Hell)

I am also a huge collector of vinyl records(LP).

I'm kind of closeted about this but I'm also a lover of anime shows such as Fullmetal Alchemist and the Mobile Suit Gundam Wing series. I'm also into collecting Japanese monster figures. Wether it be a Godzilla figure or a Pokemon figure, I'm pretty open minded on it. I have Japanese relatives, so that's kind of how I got drawn to that stuff.

I also love World War II era (A6M3 Zero, SBD Dauntless)and Vientnam era (F-105 Thundercheif, MIG-17) aircraft. Tanks such as the German King Tiger.

Ahh. I see you like Cancer now. "To The Gory End" is an old school Death Metal classic. Have you heard their sophomore record "Death Shall Rise"? It has James Murphy (Obituary, Death, Gorguts) on lead guitar.

I like "Hung, Drawn And Quartered" and "Burning Casket". Cancer's okay. They're no Deicide or Cryptopsy.

I've never heard of the first one and haven't heard anything from Abysmal Dawn.

We can not legislate our way to immortality. Bans cause social cancer!

The flippant cliche one-liners you so love to spout do NOT constitute well-thought truth.

Stop by and say hi! [link]
